FAQs

Do you see children?

Of course! We love seeing entire families at both of our locations, including the littlest members with growing smiles. Dr. Onanuga and the rest of our team are always as gentle as possible, and we’re happy to provide several treatments that can protect and strengthen your child’s oral health as they grow, such as dental sealants and fluoride treatment. We’ll also keep a very close eye on the development of their smile so that potential problems can be prepared for and treated as simply as possible.

I’ve lost some teeth. What options do I have to replace them?

At Catonsville Dental Center, our team is happy to offer several reconstructive solutions to choose from. In most cases, we recommend dental implants, as this revolutionary option revitalizes your oral health, restores your beautiful smile in a completely natural fashion, and offers patients the durability and long-lasting quality they need. However, some patients may not be viable candidates for implants, or they may simply prefer a more convenient or affordable option. In these cases, we may recommend dental bridges or removable dentures. Everyone’s needs are different, which is why we’ll take our time to figure out which option will work best.

I want to improve the way my smile looks. What kinds of services do you offer?

Dr. Onanuga is happy to offer several cosmetic dentistry treatment options at Catonsville Dental Center. During your initial consultation, he will work together with you to develop a personalized plan of action that will create the dazzling results you’re wanting in a way that fits your budget and schedule. This plan could include teeth whitening, tooth-colored fillings, all-ceramic restorations, or even porcelain veneers.

What do I do if I have a dental emergency?

Time is often of the essence in dental emergencies, so don’t hesitate – contact us immediately! In most cases, Dr. Onanuga will be able to see you on the same day as your initial call. If you’re suffering from significant oral bleeding or a possibly broken jaw, please proceed to your nearest emergency room instead. If you’ve suffered broken or lost teeth as a result of the injury, contact us as well so that we have restorations created as soon as possible.

My regular doctor told me that a dentist can help treat sleep apnea. Is that true?

Yes! If you’ve been diagnosed with sleep apnea, Dr. Onanuga can provide a customized oral appliance (also known as a snoreguard) that can comfortably alter the position of your jaw and allow you to breathe with no interruptions throughout the night. This appliance can be solely used or used in conjunction with a CPAP machine.

Do you use gold/silver/metal restorations?

While Dr. Onanuga may recommend these materials in certain situations to better protect your oral health, our locations are proud to primarily offer tooth-colored crowns, bridges, inlays, and onlays that are crafted from high-quality materials. We’ll design these restorations to blend in seamlessly with your natural smile so that you can enjoy both improved health and bolstered confidence after your treatment. Fillings made from lifelike composite resin are also available!

Visiting the dentist makes me feel scared. Can you help me?

While Dr. Onanuga and the rest of our dedicated team do everything we can to help patients feel at ease during their visit, we know that it might not always be enough. That’s why we also offer sedation dentistry services that can help take the edge off negative emotions and allow you to calmly receive necessary care. Nitrous oxide has a relatively mild effect, but patients recover within minutes after their procedure, allowing them to return to work or drive home immediately. Oral conscious sedation, on the other hand, creates a much-needed amnesic effect for patients with moderate to severe anxiety, but you will need a trusted friend or family member to take care of you for the rest of the day following treatment. If you’d like to undergo sedation dentistry at your next appointment, please let our team know when scheduling.

Do you take my insurance?

Our offices welcome a variety of dental insurances, and we can file any paperwork on your behalf as well. If you’re unsure if we cover your plan, please contact us. Our front desk team is happy to answer any questions you may have.
