Our Restorative Dentistry Services

Dental damage and decay can affect anyone for a number of reasons, and the last thing you need during this trying time is to feel judged. Instead, find the warm, compassionate care you deserve here at one of Dr. Kayode Onanuga’s dental offices. Our Catonsville, MD team is proud to offer several restorative services that revitalize oral health, rebuild lost structure, and give back self-confidence.

Crown & Bridge

Dental crowns are often the ideal option for patients suffering from a tooth that’s too damaged for a regular filling to effectively treat. Dr. Onanuga also uses crowns to improve the aesthetic appearance of an oddly shaped tooth or as the finishing touch for root canal therapy or dental implants. By surrounding the tooth and bracing it together, our Catonsville team restores its strength. The procedure usually involves two visits – one to clean, prep, and take impressions of the affected tooth, and the other to place the permanent restoration and confirm patient satisfaction.

A dental bridge is a fixed prosthetic that is successfully used to replicate one or more missing teeth in a row. This restorative solution doesn’t require surgery and is ideal for patients who want a sturdy replacement option. Like dental crowns placement, bridges typically require two appointments at Catonsville Dental Center to complete. We provide patients with a temporary bridge until we’ve received the permanent one, and additional dental crowns are placed over surrounding teeth as anchors for securing the replacement tooth.

Root Canal Therapy

If you’re struggling with a tooth that’s severely damaged, root canal therapy could be the saving grace that prevents you from undergoing tooth loss. The need for treatment is usually indicated by the toothaches and/or swelling that may arise from an infected tooth or advanced tooth decay. This procedure has earned a bad reputation over the years, but advances in dental techniques and technology have made it smoother and more comfortable than ever before. Dr. Onanuga will carefully access the inner chamber of your tooth and remove infected tissue and replace it with a substance of similar consistency before sealing the area shut to prevent further infection. A custom-made crown restores lost structure, completing your treatment.

Extractions

Removing one or more teeth is never our first choice, but sometimes, it’s necessary to preserve the patient’s oral health. This is most common with third molars (wisdom teeth), which erupt last and often don’t have room to emerge properly within a smile. We may also recommend extraction in cases of orthodontic concerns and/or a significant malocclusion, severe gum disease, or when a tooth is simply so damaged that it cannot be restored. If Dr. Onanuga determines through an evaluation that extraction is necessary, our team will do everything we can to ensure that your appointment is as precise and comfortable as possible.

Removable Dentures

Dentures are often the affordable restorative solution for patients facing significant tooth loss, and they improve chewing, allow clearer speech, bolster self-confidence, and enhance the patient’s facial profile. Dr. Onanuga offers both full dentures and partial dentures, depending on your unique needs. Full dentures are used to replace the entire bottom or top arch of teeth and are often able to stay in place with the help of natural suction. Partial dentures are designed to replace a unique arrangement of teeth, and they need clasps to stay secure within the mouth. Implant-retained dentures are also available!
